There's foreshadowing, suspense, and dramatic irony aplenty with 4 Feet Running with Nik and Dan! This week:
- Nik and Dan run the Fairhaven Father's Day Road Race 10K
- They predict it won't rain -- guess what happens?
- Nik has mysterious trouble with her Garmin -- guess what happens?
- Dan hopes he won't be in last place for his first 10K -- guess what almost happens?
- They recover from their lousy races with a nice, relaxing walk, where everyone's a winner
- Their dog Stanley has interesting (and expensive) food preferences
- Nik shares her first look at the Garmin Forerunner 405 GPS sports watch
- Dan wraps up his 10 in 10 in 10 Challenge (10 weeks, 10 pounds, 10K) and looks to the future with sunny optimism

Dan shows off his new Nike Dri-Fit hat, which is his new running headgear. He also shows off an impressive thicket of body hair.
Nik gets ready for the race, just before the rains come pouring down.
Three guys in tricorne hats and breeches and with muskets get ready to fire off the cannon that starts the Fairhaven Father's Day Road Race. Only guys with tricorne hats and breeches are licensed to discharge cannons.
This is what's left of Nik's Garmin Forerunner 205 after Stanley the dog used it to floss his incisors.

Holy crap! That's one hairy arm you have in that last Garmin pic, Dan!
Actually, for that last photo I strapped the Garmin onto our pet orangutan Clyde...
I just found your podcast and I have only listened to the first episode (I'm OCD about starting at the beginning). I wanted to tell you I loved it. I laughed out loud many times during my run this afternoon. I can't wait to get caught up with the current ones!
It's pretty interesting to see the guts of a Garmin. It's much less high-techy looking than I thought it would be. I've downloaded all the older podcasts and have started from episode 1 and am going to work my way up.
Thanks guys,
I'm OCD about starting from the beginning too. Just watch out they are a bit rougher then. :)
OOOOOoooooh the 405!!! Maybe our puppy (when we get her) will chew up my 205 and Justin will buy me a 405!
I just listened to the podcast on my morning run today. I LOVED the suspenseful foreshadowing music! Truly made me laugh out loud. Thanks for the great podcast!
I agree, well done!
Dan - just caught up to your podcast, don't sweat your place. You started you finished. You will get faster your elite minded friend will get slower. I just finished a marathon in Iowa where I think 6 or so folks where behind me and a hundred or so in front. Not fun, but an elite friend of mine so it takes more guts to go out when you are near the back then if you are up front. Keep it up and you will be amazed.
Nik - great idea to get a new Garmin. I wish I had a dog.
Dan and Nik - thanks to both of your for an always enjoyable podcast.
I am so far behind on my podcasts, just listened to this one on my run this morning.
Dan, I think the key phrase about your co-worker is he "used to be a runner."
I think Elsie my dog is eating everything electronic of mine she can get a hold of (bluetooth headset, the plug to my 12volt outlet thingamajig, an ipod power cord, etc. Guess I need to leave my 201 where she can get at it 'cause I'm beginning to believe it's indestructible, LOL.
HAHAHA! I loved the pic of the Garmin chew toy! My Garmin edge 705 looks a bit like that now but unfortunately I can't blame the dog (I left the Edge on my truck's bumper & drove away...)
